Claire Foy might have played Queen Elizabeth II on screen, for her role in Netflix's The Crown, but it was when confronted with Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, last night, that Claire Foy seemed most awe-struck.
Making her way down the BAFTAs red carpet, the 34-year-old actress looked cool, calm and collected in her green, strapless Oscar De La Renta dress.
That was, until she spotted the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton also striding down the walkway, in that most glorious of one-shouldered McQueen gowns.
Much like the rest of us, Foy looked completely taken aback at the Royal's radiance.
A moment which was thankfully captured by Twitter users, for posterity:
Playing the Queen on The Crown must have come with a number of dilemmas for Foy, considering that she had the task of portraying Elizabeth during some of her most intimate, sad and sometimes awkwardly emotional moments. We imagine she must feel quite nervous to know what the Royal family's reaction was to this depiction of the matriarch.
Happily, it seems that it can't have been too apprehensive a reaction to the show, because we have later evidence of Kate Middleton chatting away to actress Oliva Colman, who plays the Queen at a later stage of her life in the Netflix series.
It seems that the Duchess was doing her rounds most dutifully, as the same Twitter user posted a video of the Royal also chatting to Rami Malek, star of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Let's hope Claire Foy also got her chance to converse properly with the Duchess.
