In a new BBC documentary celebrating Charles' 70th birthday, Prince Harry opened up about how he asked his father to accompany his now down the aisle on their memorable day.
Paying tribute to his father, Harry said: 'I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said "yes, of course, I'll do whatever Megan needs and I'm here to support you".
'For him that's a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know he's our father so of course he's gonna be there for us.'
The 34-year-old was spotted saying 'thank you' to the second-in-line to the throne during the wedding ceremony.
Reflecting on the moment, Harry commented: 'I've been brought up well, you've gotta say thank you.
'Just because he's my father that doesn't mean I can just sort of go, "OK, that's all, I'll take it from here". Err, no! That is what I wanted to say but I was very grateful for him to be able to do that.'
Prince Charles' wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, also opened up about the tender moment between Meghan, Charles, and Harry, which she only caught a glimpse of while watching footage of the wedding following the nuptials.
'I think that was very touching, sitting where I was, you couldn't hear what he said,' she explained. 'But afterwards watching it on the television, I think... it was a lovely gesture.'

In the statement, the former actress informed the Public her father, Thomas Markle, Sr. - who reportedly underwent heart surgery ahead of the wedding - would not be at her wedding and that she thanked everyone for their well-wishes.

In the lead up to the wedding, Kensington Palace revealed Markle Sr would have the privilege of walking his daughter down the aisle to her now husband.
The statement read:
On the morning of the wedding, Ms. Ragland will travel with Ms. Markle by car to Windsor Castle. Mr. Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George's Chapel. Ms. Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion.
